Heene Cemetery has been designated a West Sussex Site of Nature Conservation importance in 1992 because of the old meadow land flora and fauna. The dedicated work of our volunteers has encouraged the old meadowland to grow again. Each year we discover something we have not seen before.
We currently carry out conservation work in Heene Cemetery for two hours, twice a week (Tuesday and Saturday 2pm-4pm) and hold four public open days a year. This is to ensure the existing flora and fauna is not disturbed more often than necessary.
